As designers we are always looking for new ways to design a project. An attribute or design to catch viewers eyes and really draw them in. It could very simple and subtle or it can be bold and dramatic. There are several different design trends and concepts that have been created years ago that are still being used today and ones that people are in the works of creating.
Parallax scrolling has been around for a while but it's one of those web designs trends that just keeps on going. Viewers are so drawn to different moving parts on webpages. It keeps things fun and interesting where they are browsing through your page. Parallax scrolling is when the website layout sees the background of the web page moving at a slower rate to the foreground, creating a 3D effect as you scroll. When parallax scrolling is used sparingly it can deliver a nice, refined element of depth that results in a distinctive and memorable website. There are some pros and cons when it comes to using this effect. Some pros about it are It creates a pleasing, natural, and fluid movement within an otherwise static, inanimate space. Parallax scrolling also emphasizes the professionalism and design ability of your company. Some cons to using parallax scrolling is that it doesn’t work well on mobile devices. It can sometimes slow down your site on a mobile device. It is often recommended to remove the feature from your mobile site altogether. Another con to parallax scrolling is that it is possible to overdo it. Sometimes you’ll risk making your website complicated and confusing to the user. I believe that parallax scrolling will never really die out, I believe that it will advance in design. However, with technology advancing I believe that parallax scrolling will become even more 3d.
Neumorphism is a new take on skeuomorphic design. Even though it relates to skeuomorphism, there is a new focus in the entire design style with neumorphism. This focus is not necessarily on the contrast or similarity between the real and digital worlds, but rather the color palette. Neumorphism is all about the color of the entire screen and delivering an entirely unique experience for users. It gives a feel that components like buttons or cards are inside the background of the design and are only visible because they’re projecting from within towards to viewer. The style is all about solid colors creating low contrast and the use of shadowing. A pro to neomorphism is the new style is visual freshness. The design is almost always super clean and neat, which makes it very visually pleasing to viewers. Another pro is that this design concept applies to all owners of monochrome brand books. This design makes it really easy for company’s who have little to no color in their brand books to create a website that fits their brand guide perfectly without looking boring or dull. A major con to this design is that after a while it can be very visually straining on the eyes of viewers, especially visually impaired viewers. I believe neomorphism will be a huge design concept the world will begin to see a lot of in the next few years, I believe the design will be pushed further and become more real looking in the future.
